A formal dress a dress which can be given to Elena as a gift. She will wear it at times; while wearing it, her shoes will become black. It is found in a chest in a locked room (which requires the Crimson Key, only available after completing the game, to open it) on the first floor of the Arcadian Tower. (Must be confirmed, I'm not entirely sure of the location.) She says that it is a dress worn in Aiosian ceremonies when you give it to her.
It can also be received as a Reward from Mavda for selling her 600 Leots worth of Flesh from the Blazing Citadel in one go. This is the only way to obtain it without completing the game first.
